Dindigul District Police, in coordination with the Prohibition Enforcement Wing, conducted a special raid at multiple locations across the district to crack down on the illegal manufacture, storage, and sale of illicit liquor. The operation was carried out following specific intelligence inputs regarding unauthorized liquor production in rural areas.
During the raids, officials seized a large quantity of illegally manufactured liquor, brewing equipment, raw materials, and containers used in the production process. Several suspects were taken into custody for questioning, and criminal cases were registered under the provisions of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition Act.
Police stated that the illegal liquor trade poses a serious threat to public health and safety, as unregulated alcoholic beverages can contain harmful substances that may cause severe illness or even death. Authorities also destroyed the seized raw materials and dismantled makeshift brewing units operating without permission.
Senior police officials said that similar enforcement drives will continue across Dindigul district to prevent illegal liquor production and distribution. Residents have been encouraged to report suspicious activities related to illicit liquor through the police helpline, assuring that the identity of informants will be kept confidential.
