Dindigul District Police have arrested three individuals allegedly involved in a series of chain-snatching incidents reported across different parts of the district. The arrests were made following a detailed investigation that included the analysis of CCTV footage, eyewitness accounts, and intelligence gathered by special police teams.
According to police officials, the suspects primarily targeted elderly women and people walking alone during the early morning and evening hours. The accused allegedly used motorcycles to approach victims, snatch gold chains, and flee the scene before police could respond.
During the operation, officers recovered several stolen gold ornaments, two motorcycles believed to have been used in the crimes, and mobile phones that may have been used to coordinate the offences. The recovered valuables will be returned to their rightful owners after the completion of legal procedures.
Police have registered multiple cases against the accused and are investigating whether they are connected to similar incidents reported in neighboring districts. Officials have advised residents to remain alert, avoid displaying expensive jewellery in isolated areas, and immediately report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or emergency helpline.
